“Now You Know” How to SPICE up your Thanksgiving dinner with a secret recipe!
Every year Thanksgiving seems to be standard: turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes with marshmellows, gravy, salad ect. BORING, and although I can’t wait to stack my plate with all the heart warming food, this year I am going to spice up my Thanksgiving by giving my turkey a little extra kick! This year Thanksgiving is going to be a FIESTA ayayayaya! This blog entry is dedicated to my good friend Caroline whose Puerto Rican Heritage makes every Thanksgiving unique and flavorful. She shared with me her SPECIAL homemade recipe that she uses to season her turkey with: SOFRITO! This spice adds not only flavor, but it also helps balance what just might be the heaviest meal of the holiday- leaving room for desert!
LASTLY! Since you only use a tiny bit of sofrito for garnishing your turkey, the best way to store and save the rest is by taking an ice cube tray and filling each cube with the sofrito. Then cover it with plastic and place it in the freezer until you are ready to use it for future dishes. TIP: when using it for future dishes, let it defrost while preparing.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!
