Marie Antoinette Style!

This year, Décor by Guillaume Gentet is honored to participate in the first ever Hamptons Holiday House in BridgeHampton, NY.

Holiday House is a designer showcase tradition started by Iris Dankner in 2008, which benefits Breast Cancer Research.  A survivor, Dankner wanted to combine her love of design and passion for helping others affected by cancer.

Acclaimed designers are given rooms to decorate, using themes of different holidays for each space. Last fall, we did a special lavender venetian plaster for our designer friend, Robyn Karp’s “Sweet Sixteen” room.  This spring, Guillaume is going all out with his own room- Bastille Day (also known as French Independence Day)!

Using a riff on the ornate and colorful “Marie Antoinette” style, Guillaume is incorporating both traditional and more modern elements to create a sumptuous media room- even creating French doors that look out onto a mural of Paris’ Place Vendome, painted by beloved fashion illustrator Chesley McLaren.

Here are some examples of the Marie Antoinette style, but prepare to be wowed by Guillaume’s creation. The opening charity gala (for which proceeds go to Breast Cancer Research) is on June 22, 2013, and the house is open to the public Sunday June 23- Sunday July 21.

Drawing inspiration from Marie Antoinette’s real-life residences at Versailles as well as the fun candy-colored movie version by Sophia Coppola, Guillaume’s sumptuous media room will combine the regality of French baroque design, with a contemporary color palette (generously provided by C2 luxury handcrafted paints) and modern French vendors:
