Luxury Apartment Renovation in Greenwich Village by Guillaume Gentet
How do you take a one-bedroom loft apartment and gain two more bedrooms? You expand it upward and use a mezzanine level — and that’s how architect Guillaume Gentet redid this apartment’s interior for a young professional couple and their children in Greenwich Village, New York. Their address, 65 West 13th Street (The Greenwich), was constructed in 1905 as a former Macy’s department store and then converted to luxury condos in 2001. It’s a prime location, one the couple wanted to keep, but they were expecting twins; with a toddler already, they knew their apartment, as it was, had no room for growth. Their priorities — besides more space — were to have more room for entertaining and to incorporate their art collection into the final design.
